Five Islands Academy, previously Five Islands School, is the first[citation needed] federated school within the United Kingdom, providing main and secondary education for youngsters from three to sixteen at 5 sites in the Isles of Scilly.[1] As of Could 2022, the headteacher is Rachel Gibb, and the Chair of the Native Academy Committee is Jeremy Brown.[2][3]

The secondary school and 4 major faculties were formerly five separate schools. Sites

Secondary education (up to GCSE) is provided solely on the most populous island of St Mary’s. [17] Secondary pupils from the other islands are given free board at Mundesley Boarding House throughout the varsity week, returning residence on the weekends and holidays. There, it was based mostly at the Carn Thomas site, on the eastern edge of Hugh Town, on the street to Porth Mellon, but in 2011 relocated to a new school complicated at Carn Gwaval, adjacent to an existing primary base there, between Hugh City and Outdated City.

Boarding services

The boarding facility at St. Mary’s is known as the Mundesley Boarding Home, accommodating yr 7 onwards during the college week, with students returning home by boat every weekend. [21] The boarding home is funded by the Department of Training, however, dad and mom of the students residing on the house have opted to make voluntary contributions in direction of the upkeep of the boarding house.
