Ifeoluwa Oluwaseun Olowu well known as Ife Olowu is a Nigerian born visual artist. He’s the primary artist in Nigeria to combine augmented reality (AR) into a painting. [1][2] He can also be known for his art assortment “coloured reality” which is being exhibited in 5 countries.

Background and training

Ife Olowu was born right into a family of seven and hails from Lagos, Nigeria. Throughout this time was when he began his designs. He did his primary and secondary education at the Yaba Faculty of Technology Workers College. Print business alongside studying artwork. Ife Olowu’s creative journey dates again to his secondary faculty days, drawing inspiration from his mum, who was a textile artist specialized in Adire and batik.[4]

Upon graduation, he transitioned into the skilled sphere, establishing a printing press and design firm. The enterprise demanded considerable attention, leaving him as an element-time studio artist.

His relationship with Augment Reality (AR) started between late 2019 and 2020, throughout the COVID-19 lockdown interval an opportune time as a result of pandemic-induced restrictions that supplied him with ample time for exploration. The target was to infuse AR into his artistry, which is a new thought in the African context.[5]

Exhibitions

Ife Olowu launched his second assortment in 2023, titled “Metamorphosis” which is a fusion of art and technology. He held a solo exhibition titled “Metamorphosis: A Journey into the future” at Cera Cerni ArtHub, Lagos from December 3 to 15 2023.[10] and likewise did a solo exhibition “Nigeria re-envisioned photo artwork exhibition” in Could, 2024 held in Helsinki, Finland.[11]

He has participated in group exhibitions “numerous perspectives” in July, 2024 on the Landmark Art gallery, Lagos,[12] “The creative pulse of the diaspora”, in November 2024, United Kingdom.[13] and “Art4Health” held in December 2024 in Lagos geared toward raising funds for most cancers patients.[14]
