Bintan Resorts is the name for a resort enclave occupying the northern area of Bintan Island in Indonesia. The enclave is operated by PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala. Established in 1990 as a joint enterprise between the Indonesian and Singaporean governments, it’s positioned within the village of Sebong Lagoi in the district of Teluk Sebong, Bintan Regency.

Although the area is within Indonesian territory, Bintan Resorts is marketed at residents from close by Singapore, for whom Bintan is a brief ferry journey away. [1] The event received 410,454 guests in 2009, of which the most important proportion, virtually 30%, were Singaporean. [2] Bintan welcomed a document-breaking one million guests for the primary time in 2018.[3] The realm is usually a short-keep destination, with 90% of holiday makers staying lower than seven days.

Bintan Resorts encompasses 18,000 hectares of land and has over a dozen hotels, serviced apartments, golf programs, eating places, and parks.[4]

Native hospitality company Nirwana Gardens operates 5 properties clustered within the northwesternmost part of the realm: Nirwana Resort Lodge, Mayang Sari Seashore Resort, Banyu Biru Villas, Indra Maya Pool Villas, and the now-closed Nirwana Seaside Membership. The mission, following a number of delays, is at the moment on track for a 2025 opening. [5] Further east of Laguna Bintan is the Lagoi Bay public space, which incorporates Archipelago International’s Kamuela Lagoi Bay Villas Bintan, Marriott Worldwide’s 4 Factors by Sheraton Bintan Lagoi Bay, and the independently-operated The Sanchaya, Grand Lagoi Resort Bintan, and Pantai Indah Lagoi Bintan. [8][9] To the east of Nirwana Gardens is Laguna Bintan, a golf course with three motels operated by Singaporean hospitality firm Banyan Group: Banyan Tree Bintan, Angsana Bintan, and Cassia Bintan. [4][6][7] In 2017, IHG Resorts & Resorts signed a dual-branded Vacation Inn and Lodge Indigo resort advanced to be in-built Lagoi Bay.

The easternmost part of Bintan Resorts is occupied by the Ria Bintan Golf Club, complemented by two resorts, Club Med Ria Bintan and Bintan Lagoon Resort.[10] The latter property, closed since the COVID-19 pandemic, has signed a management contract with Accor that may see it reopen under its Mövenpick model.[11] There was originally a third resort deliberate for this space, which might have been managed by Alila beneath its “Alila Villas” sub-model, though the mission has been stalled since it was announced in the early 2010s.[12]

South of Nirwana Gardens and Laguna Bintan is Treasure Bay, a crystal lagoon billed as the biggest swimming pool in Southeast Asia. [17] [13] It is surrounded by two resorts, both themed round glamping: ANMON, and Natra Bintan, the latter being part of Marriott Worldwide’s Tribute Portfolio collection. [14][15] Retired ocean liner MV Doulos Phos, mounted on a piece of dry land to the west of Treasure Bay, was converted into a hotel in 2019.[16] The far southern part of Bintan Resorts primarily homes accommodation for resort staff and administration in addition to a couple of colleges, although it additionally hosts a 3-star lodge (d’primahotel Bintan) and a short-time period rental (Bintan Companies Condo).

Previous to the development of Lagoi Bay, solely hotel company were allowed entry to Bintan Resorts. Even to today, the world is still a gated group, with a price charged for visitors.[17]
